Memorial Scholarship
The South Florida Alumni Club offers two,
$500.00 annual scholarships to a Florida resident meeting the following criteria
for award based on the general and specific merits of each scholarship:
GENERAL CONDITIONS
1. The applicant must be a resident from
South Florida or the regional area, and either,
a. A high school senior/incoming Freshman fully admitted to the University of
Louisville, or
b. A student enrolled full time at the University of Louisville and in good
academic standing.
2. The applicant may NOT be on athletic
scholarship.
3. Student progress reports may be required
to be eligible for repeat award qualification.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND REQUIREMENTS
1. The Ronnie G. Pope II Memorial
Scholarship

The Ronnie G. Pope II Memorial Scholarship
is given annually to the applicant who meets the General Conditions, and:
a. Demonstrates high academic standing
b. Demonstrates an affinity for the University of Louisville and exemplifies
school spirit
c. Demonstrates community involvement, family values and a desire to carry on
the standard of excellence set fourth by the Ronnie G. Pope II legacy.
The format of this application is
undefined. However, a full submission must be completed prior to the deadline
given herein. In addition, preference will be given to applicants seeking a
general education degree or Master's Degree in Education/Special Education.

About the Ronnie G.
Pope II Memorial Scholarship
The
UofL South Florida Alumni Club created an annual
scholarship after Ronnie G. Pope, II in 2010.
Ronnie was one of the initial members of the
Alumni Club and passed on May 7th, 2010. From his
obituary: Ronnie was an avid fan of the University
of Louisville Cardinals; he proudly wore the Old
English "L" on his arm. Ronnie stormed the field to
celebrate the (historic football) victories over
(the Universities of) Miami, FL and West Virginia
at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. Ronnie will be
following the Cardinals from his front row seat in
heaven. He was employed by The School Board of
Broward County, FL for many years. He was a
dedicated teacher and before sunrise until long
after sunset he was devoted to his work with
autistic children and adults. Ronnie was
recognized by the School Board for his dedication,
initiative and dependability.
In
honor and remembrance of his love for the
University of Louisville and his dedication to
education and family values it is with great pride
we dedicate an annual scholarship in his name.
2. The UofL South Florida Alumni Club
Scholarship
The UofL South Florida Alumni Club
Scholarship is given, not necessarily annually, to the applicant who meets the
General Conditions, and:
a. Demonstrates high academic standing
b. Demonstrates an affinity for the University of Louisville
c. Completes a 250 word essay describing the personal qualities that represents
the applicant as the best candidate.
Each Scholarship may be awarded together to
one applicant or individually to competing applicants that qualify for award.
Scholarships are traditionally awarded by
the University of Louisville Alumni Association at a ceremony held on campus in
September of the award year.
Applications are due by July 31st of the
award year, and submissions my be mailed to the club address, 941 Crystal Lake
Drive, Deerfield Beach, FL 33064 or emailed to
president@southfloridacards.com.
